POINTS OF THE DOG

KNOWING THESE AREAS OF THE DOG COULD HELP YOU SPOT DEVELOPING PROBLEMS

1.  Represents the Nostrils – right and left,  which are in direct communication with the windpipe and the lungs.
2.  The Nose,  of which the nasal bones form the greater part.
3.  The so-called  ” Stop ”  or junction of  nose with the skull.
4.  Dome of the skull.
5.  The Occiput,  or junction of the skull with the neck.
6.  The Lips or  ” flews ”  as they are commonly called.
7.  The Face.
8.  The Check.
9.   The Throat,  the loose skin below being called the dewlap.
10.   The Neck  ( upper border ).
11.   Inner face of  Ear-flap,  leading to inner and middle ear.
12.  The Withers,  bounded in front by the root of the neck and behind by the back.
13.  Side of Neck.
14.  Brisket or Breast.
15.  The Shoulder,  formed of the Scapula or shoulder blade plus the muscles.
16.  The Arm,  bounded above by the shoulder,  and below by the forearm.
17.  Is the Point of the elbow,  or junction of the armbone with the forearm.
18.  Outer face of Forearm.
19.  Back of Forearm with sinews or flexors.
20.  Front of Forearm with extensors.
21.  Wrist-joint.   Stricltly speaking this corresponds to the human wrist.
22.  Metarcarpus consisting of five small rod-like bones.
23.  The Toes,  corresponding to the fingers in man.
24.  Inner surface of Forearm.
25.  The Back,  bounded in front by the withers and behind by the loins.
26.  The Loins.
27.  The Croup.
28.  Set on of Stern.
29.  Stern.
30.  The Buttock.
31.  The Thigh  ( First Thigh )  formed of a single bone.
32.  The Flank,  the skin covering this serves to assist in uniting the trunk to the hind-limb.
33.  Right side of the Belly.
34.  Ribs on the right side and chest wall.
35.  Corresponds to the right lung.
36.  Floor of the Belly.
37.  Stifle joint formed by the junction of three  ( 3 )  bones.
38.  Second Thigh bounded by the thigh bone above,  and the hock below.   The Second Thigh is really composed of two bones,  which corresponds to the ” shin ”  of man.
39.  Inner side of Second Thigh.
40.  Tendon of Achilles and Gaskin.
41.  Point of Hock or Heel.
42.  Front face of Hock-joint.
43.  Metatarsus,  which corresponds to the bones of the foot in the human subject.
44.  Inner side of Metatarsus.
45.  Toes.
46.  Inner Toes.
47.  Sheath.
48.  Sternum or Breast Bone.
49.  Front of Elbow-joint.
